I was born in 1989 in Helsinki as the middle child of the family of five. Ever since I was a little kid I was interested in drawing and one of my childhood dreams was to become a cartoonist or an artis. I spent lot of time drawing animal comics and if an artist was needed for a school group project I usually volunteered.

 

After graduating from high school in 2008 I got in Alfa-Art school of arts, where I studied fine art for three years. There I discovered oil painting, live-model drawing, experimental art and also learnt more about living as an artist. For the record I must say this era of my artistic studies was really important for me. Not just because I learnt more about art, but because I was able to do something I always wanted. I gratuated from Alfa-Art in Spring of 2011.

 

After that I went to study creating comics and illustration in Kymenlaakso's Institute for one year. During that time I developed my drawing skills and produced an illustrated (and unpublished) children's book as my final project. That year was really important for my future plans, because during that time I slowly started to grow interest in animation. Of course I have always liked animation and had done some animated GIFs and amateur flash animations in my spare time, but for the first time I was actually considering it as a career path. 

 

After graduating from Kymenlaakso's Institute in 2012 I tried to get in to schools that teach animation, but without any luck. I almost gave up hope of becoming animator until one Summer day I got an email that advertised an university in UK that had a course for animation: the University of Worcester. I was excited and scared at the same time because it was offering something I wanted, but studying abroad was a big step and it terrified me a bit. I considered it for a while, but in the end the desire of becoming animator won. I went to recruitment and got in. Few months later I flew to UK and started my three year long studies in animation. I graduated in 2015 as an animator with Animation BA (Hons) degree.

 

That's my student life and desire for visual arts in summary. On Summer breaks (ever since I graduated from high school) I've been usually working. I've been a cleaner, a bread packer and a Summer Helper in IT-unit. On my freetime I read, watch films, listen music, go for walk, spend time with my family and friends, play videogames and surf on the web.
